Compress PDF

Shrink scans and image-heavy PDFs so they fit email and upload limits.

Compression

Your files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed automatically and permanently deleted after 1 hour. Nobody looks at them. Free, no sign-up, no watermark.

How to use

  1. Choose a PDF file (up to 50 MB).
  2. Pick a level: Light, Recommended, Strong — or Custom to set image resolution (DPI) and JPEG quality yourself. The estimated size updates as you change it.
  3. Optional: under “More settings” convert to grayscale or keep only some pages (e.g. 1-3, 5). Press Start.
  4. Download the smaller PDF.

Compression mostly works on images inside the PDF: they are resampled to a lower resolution and recompressed. Text and vector graphics stay sharp. PDFs that contain only text are usually already small and may not shrink much.

Frequently asked questions

Which level should I choose?

“Recommended” suits most documents. Use “Strong” when you need the smallest file (e.g. a 2 MB upload limit) and “Light” for printing.

Why did my PDF not get smaller?

It was already optimized — typically a text-only PDF. In that case you get the original file back.

Is my document safe?

It is sent over an encrypted connection, processed automatically and deleted one hour later. You can delete it immediately after downloading.

Will the text stay searchable?

Yes. Compression does not touch the text layer.
