Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what happens to your files and data when you use FileTone (https://filetone.org).
1. Files processed in your browser
Tools marked “In your browser” (for example image compression, HEIC conversion, PDF merge/split, EXIF removal, passport photos) process files locally on your device. These files are never sent to our servers.
2. Files processed on our server
- Tools marked “Secure upload” send your file to our server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS, once the site runs on its own domain).
- Files are stored under a random identifier and are used only to produce the result you requested.
- Files and results are deleted automatically one hour after processing. You can delete them immediately with the “Delete from server now” button.
- We do not look at, copy, share or sell your files, and we do not use them to train any models.
- Original file names are not written to our logs.
3. Technical data
To protect the service from abuse we count requests per IP address (for example the limit of server tasks per IP). IP addresses are stored only as one-way hashes and only for the duration of the limit window (up to 24 hours). Our servers keep standard technical logs (time, request path, status code) for security and troubleshooting for a short period.
4. Cookies and local storage
We do not use cookies for tracking. Your theme choice (light/dark) is saved in your browser’s local storage. If we enable advertising in the future, our advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may use cookies; this policy will be updated and, where required, you will be asked for consent.
5. Your rights
Since we do not keep accounts or files longer than one hour, we usually hold no personal data about you. If you have a question or a request regarding your data (including rights under the GDPR), contact us at (the address will be published soon).
6. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 where required by local law).
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
