Convert video to GIF
Cut a moment out of a video and turn it into a sharp, smooth GIF — with a preview before you download.
Free: up to 2 min of video per file (choose a part with Start/End), up to 720p; GIF up to 20 s. Pro: 5 min, 1080p.
Private by design: this tool works entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server. Free, no sign-up, no watermark.
How to use
- Choose a video (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI).
- Play the preview and press “Start here” and “End here” to pick the moment.
- Set width, frames per second, speed and repeats; colors and dithering are under “More settings”.
- Press Start, watch the GIF and download it.
The GIF gets its own color palette computed from your clip (palettegen + paletteuse in ffmpeg), so colors stay rich and gradients smooth even with 256 colors.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make the GIF smaller?
Lower the width and the frame rate, shorten the part, or reduce colors under “More settings”. 10–15 fps is usually enough.
How long can the GIF be?
Free GIFs can be up to the length shown under the tool. GIFs are big files, so short clips work best anyway.
Can the GIF play only once?
Yes, choose “Once” or “3 times” in Repeat. “Forever” loops endlessly.
